Brickfield Education Labs partnering with Moodle
(DUBLIN – April 27th, 2021) – We have some great news! Brickfield Education Labs are officially partnering with Moodle, the most popular learning management system in the world! This collaboration with Moodle will improve accessibility in course content to reduce barriers and maximise learning opportunities for all learners.
Moodle LMS the platform is WCAG 2.1 AA compliant from their recent audit. However, the way in which users create materials and upload content also has an impact on their accessibility. This partnership provides organisations and education institutions using Moodle with a toolkit to assess and improve their content. The Brickfield Accessibility Toolkit will find, fix and future-proof content accessibility within Moodle courses.
“There has been a recent push to deliver more teaching online because of Covid-19. It is more important than ever to ensure that the teaching materials and assessments are usable by all students.” says Gavin Henrick, CEO and Co-Founder of Brickfield Education Labs. “We are very happy to work with Moodle to improve the toolkit that organisations have to deliver accessible course content.”
Moodle is the world’s most trusted online learning system, used by over 250 million learners worldwide. Moodle CEO and Founder, Martin Dougiamas says, “Accessibility for all has been a constant focus for Moodle LMS as a learning platform over the years and consequently our tools include a range of accessibility features designed to help accommodate individual differences in line with international best practices.”
“A problem we’ve faced is that the content uploaded by educators and learners may not meet common accessibility requirements. I’m very pleased that we have a partnership now with Brickfield Education Labs who will work with us and organisations who use Moodle to help address this important issue.”
In addition, as part of Brickfield Education Lab’s partnership with Moodle, we are hosting a free conference online! The one day event is for organisations looking to improve their understanding of digital content accessibility and seeking help in addressing their existing challenges. The programme will consist of a mix of short, practical workshops. It will also include presentations from accessibility specialists. It is set to go ahead in late June with registration opening the first week of May.
